Family Picnic on Car-Free Sunday

I have never went for a picnic before.

It could be because practical me don’t see any enjoyment having to pack food, then have our dinners on a mat! How troublesome is that?! Why eat in the sweltering heat outdoors when I can have my meal in the comfort of aircon at home? And I can already imagine me and my helper chasing after my two restless boys.

Then one day, the husband chanced upon a Families for Life event- a mass picnic at Empress Lawn, just outside the Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall. It was one of the activities organised on Car-Free Sunday. And he signed our family up for it!

Well, I'm game if he is. To make it more fun, we extended the invitation to my siblings.

The event started at 5pm. Picnic mats and a small goodie bag were provided. Materials were also given to families to built and decorate a cardboard car for an outdoor movie screening. Cool!

Thankfully the weather was cooling. The kids were happy and so were we. We had our zichar, Macdonald's, Tian Tian chicken rice, magnum ice-cream and snacks. I didn't know we could more than satisfy our stomachs at a picnic!

^ Happy family photo! *Cheeeese!*

The place was beautiful even as the skies darkened. I think Singapore has such beautiful night lights..

^ The stunning Victoria Theatre & Concert Hall in the evening. Can you see the movie screen?

On our way to the washroom at Victoria Theatre with the boys, we did a mini tour of it. The kids sighted a couple of exhibits and had some fun with them! The boys just need each other to create some fun and drama.

^ Mummy sure hope they are as musical as they seemed to be.

^ The boys’ obsession with birds, as you can tell.

Well, would we Picnic again? Why not? If the kids are happy, we're happy!

Have a wonderful week ahead!
