Trip to Universal Studios Singapore!

Believe it or not, it’s my maiden trip to USS! And this trip was made together with my colleagues, WITHOUT any of our kiddos. Whoohoo!

IMG_3486

We look like we are in dreamland….

We enjoyed a good deal for the tickets when we paid with our Mastercard. And we sure made sure our ticket money was worth EVERY SINGLE cent!

The first and, in my opinion, best ride was the  amazing 3D ride - TRANSFORMERS.

Don’t we look coool in our battle glasses?

We zipped through alleys, zoomed upwards, crashed low in the midst of chaos and destruction.

Though we came out a little giddy, we managed a picture with an autobot. :)

IMG_3477

Hairs a bit ruffled, shirts a bit crumpled but we managed to smile quite nicely

Next up…

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA!!!

If you can see, there are 2 sets of roller coasters intertwined here. The red colored one is a seated roller coaster called HUMAN Viper Mark II and moves at speed of 82.8 km/h, and reaches up to 14 storeys high!

The blue colored one is the CYCLON Raider, a suspended roller coaster that brings the people upside down.

We obviously went for the…

We are humans after all right??

Shortly into the ride, the roller coaster plunged deep deep deep deep deep deep deep deep down. I think my heart sank faster than my body did. At that point, I told myself I am NOT going to take the CYCLON ride. NEVER.

I realized that I was not the only one who made that decision up there. Phew!

And so we proceeded to the REVENGE OF THE MUMMY.

IMG_3480

It was another high speed roller coaster except that it is indoors and in the dark. Thrilling but not that scary.

We also tried the JURASSIC PARK RAPIDS ADVENTURE.

IMG_3481

It was a sure-get-wet kind of a ride…

IMG_3484

And so we put on our ponchos hoping we do not get too wet.

It was a leisurely ride in the 9-seater raft. The dinosaurs minded their own business very well and did not scare us at all. It was only towards the end where there was a water drop and the poor person who happened to be at the part of the raft that fell backwards first, will be at the receiving end of the huge splash of water!

Right after lunch, we were back in action!

We went for the SHREK 4D ADVENTURE.

IMG_1572

It was a hilarious time with all the 4D effects that made us laugh and scream in disgust and horror. You will know what I mean when you watch this. ;)

And finally, after many considerations, deliberations, weighing the pros and the cons. WE. DECIDED. TO. TAKE.

CYCLON!!!!!!!!!!

Without Sandra and Wendy HAHAHA!

God bless our hearts.

The 3 of them screamed their hearts out. Yes, them and not me. Because me. I just closed my eyes and clinged on to my arm rests for my dear life. As a result, I felt the minimal effects of terror.

Still, I can say “I TOOK THE CYCLON RIDE!” *Peace sign*

Besides the rides, we also watched our most favorite Sesame Street show and took lots of pictures with the mascots and stuffs along the way. Here are some of our lovely pictures to end off. I hope you enjoy USS in this post. Thanks for reading!

Straits Café @ Rendezvous

Started last Sunday with church.

IMG_1424

Wore my favorite lace skirt. :)

IMG_1425

This Diva necklace was a gift from a very sweet friend

After church, we had to skip lunch as we had a high tea date at the Straits Café @ Rendezvous!

IMG_1430

IMG_1465

Old-school tiles at the hotel lobby. My outfit blended in with the design don’t you think? ;)

We had heard so much about the food here.

The first thing I took was the award winning Laksa.

IMG_1432

IMG_1433

It tasted really smooth and delish!

There was a popiah and kueh pie tee making station.

IMG_1460

IMG_1435

By the way, did you know that a standard roll of popiah costs you 188 calories?

IMG_1455

IMG_1436

Jensen looked like he wants to eat with us too. Next year baby!

If you like seafood…

IMG_1437

IMG_1438

Not sure what are these but they look like snails!

IMG_1439

IMG_1441

Salmon sashimi was fresh enough

IMG_1445

I like everything in this salad – green mango, onions, chilli and chicken feet!

They serve only mutton satay here. My cousin said mutton satay is generally more expensive than the other meat satays. I didn’t know that!

Satay sauce in this old fashion clay pot

IMG_1446

A Chinese roti prata man??

IMG_1453

My roti prata drenched in chicken curry.

The roti prata here was crispy and fluffy like pastry. I enjoyed it but regretted drenching my prata in curry. Should have taken the curry separately in a bowl for dipping so that I could enjoy the crispiness of the prata.

IMG_1448

A row of dim sum such as soon kueh, koo chye kueh, siew mai, bao, chwee kueh etc

IMG_1449

Dessert time!

IMG_1462

I don’t really fancy chocolate fondue but it seems like a must-have in every buffet now.

IMG_1456

Green tea biscuits atop green tea pudding

There was the usual ice-cream and cakes available but the bestest of the best dessert has got to be….

IMG_1452

DURIAN PUDDING!

It was sweet and creamy! Such a delight!

And what a way to end your high-tea with a cup of teh terik available at this cart.

IMG_1461

We enjoyed the food at this buffet. There is senior citizen’s discount available here.

This place is definitely worth checking out.
