Our Stay At Grande Center Point Ratchadamri Bangkok

Our long awaited last getaway for this year to Bangkok finally arrived! This time round we decided to stay for 4 days at the Grande Centre Point Ratchadamri Bangkok. Jared tends to eschew big chain names and opt for local hospitality at Thai hotels. Essentially prices will be lower for similar quality at big chain names and the breakfast tend to more filled with local flavors which we adore! Think Metadee Resort at Phuket or Amari Watergate in Bangkok which we previously stayed in.

We chose it  mainly because we found good reviews about their facilities online and for its central location in the shopping district of Ratchaprasong which is essentially Bangkok’s version of Orchard Road. It is a 5-minute walk to Ratchadamri BTS station, 10-15 minutes walk to Central World and Platinum Shopping Malls, the good n cheap Pratunam market, the gilitzy Siam Paragon and the happening Siam Square shopping areas. Here’s a look at the room we stayed in……

There was a kitchen area complete with cabinets, plates, cutlery, coffee maker and microwave. We even had a washer cum dryer that was very useful if you want to travel light! Washing powder was provided as well!

An induction stove for cooking.

A dining area. This table was eventually used by us for putting all our shopping bags every day.

We loved our flat screen Samsung TV.

The toilet was clean and spacious…

Complete with a big bathtub.

My only gripe was that the hot water shower was a little faulty because the water could not be warmed!

Look at the beautiful view from the 29th storey!

On the left hand side, Bangkok’s saddle club cum golf course

The hubby was looking forward to the hotel swimming pool that he had fell in love with when he saw the pictures of it online. Check out the huge sofa that many couples were seen lounging on when were there!

IMG_2511

Awesome isn’t it?? And can you see the jacuzzi pool at the other side of the pool?

IMG_2512

Pool chairs aplenty for those who love to sun-tan.

IMG_2514

Couple pool chair anyone?

IMG_2513

There were 2 long couches with many cushions for those who enjoy taking an outdoor nap or laze around reading a book.

Floats available for the kiddos…

Now what comes next after a swim in the cool waters?

IMG_1143

It has to be relaxing in an indoor hot water Jacuzzi. Heaven…..

We slowly realized that this hotel is very kids-friendly. You saw the facilities available in our hotel room. There is also a fully padded baby/toddler play room.

Not forgetting a small indoor playground!

IMG_2508

They also have a very cosy, nicely-scented reading room.

As expected, we did not use this room as we were too busy going out for shopping!

And boy, if you are a fitness fanatic, you would love the gym here…

IMG_2528

The treadmill machines had a personal TV with ear plugs for you to enjoy watching cable TV while burning away those calories. Awesome!

They even have a connecting studio for you to workout as well.

The buffet breakfast spread is not the usual 5-star hotel standard. Breakfast is available in a large room but the spread though limited, is complete enough for me. A row of Western and Thai cuisine each, sushi, 2 kinds of breakfast cereals (including my favorite Koko Krunch), an egg counter with a chef, salad/fruits corner, fruit juices and coffee/tea. It is good enough for me.

All in all, we had a very pleasant stay in Grande Centre Point. We do recommend this hotel especially if you are bringing your kids along.

Next couple of posts coming up about the food and shopping during this BKK trip!
