Why You Should Have A Baby (Part 1)

IMG_1473

There are days

When I just carry my sleeping baby in my arms

And admire God’s wonderful creation

The hair on his head

(and did you notice, even the little ones on his forehead..)

The beautifully shaped eyebrows

The long eyelashes

Cute ‘lil nose

Pouty lips

Rosy cheeks

And the best part is

I see a part of me in him…

Like every other proud mummy

I think my baby is SO beautiful

Thank You Jesus for my baby

ABSOLUTELY NO regrets about having a baby! :)

HTC Flyer Review

I was invited to the launch of HTC’s first tablet- The Flyer last night.HTC event

I was looking forward to it as I used to carry a Fujitsu tablet laptop eight years ago and I really wonder how the tablet had evolved over time…

I was NOT disappointed!

Here are the 6 ‘S’ reasons why I liked the Flyer:

#1 SIZE matters

And so is capability.

This tablet is able to give us the best of both worlds!

slim

The display screen is 17.78 cm (7”) and it measures 19.54 cm length by 12.2 cm width by 1.32cm slim (7.7”x4.8”x0.52”). It also has a 1.5 GHz processor. Very fast for its size!

#2 It (literally) moves our SENSES

The Flyer uses the android platform with HTC Sense which promises a richer user experience.

Look at the 3D homescreen! Doesn’t it look awesome?!

3d

The Product Marketing Manager informed the audience that when you check the weather, you can feel the sun’s rays or even the raindrops! Seriously?!

#3 Easy to SHARE

You can easily send or share webpages, pictures, notes. Simply tap the page and choose your options!

sharing

Here’s the tweet option…

#4 SNAP SNAP!

The Flyer has a 5MP camera and HD camcorder and also a front facing camera for all you who love to take self-portraits or videos!

Fellow blogger Edmund trying out the front camera… He was having alot of fun! :)

#5 Scribe Technology

The Flyer not only offers touch interaction, but its pen technology is also amazing!

Here is our friendly promoter with THE pen.

promoter

You can take notes, sign contracts, draw pictures or even write on a webpage or photo with it!

draw

Here is a webpage that had been scribbled on and then printed!

print

You can also take notes and do an audio recording at the same time. And guess what’s better than just this? When you tap on any part of your notes, it’ll playback the audio that was recorded at that time! Very good for training sessions, schools and meetings!

Why wasn’t the Flyer invented during my Uni days?? But better late than never. This gadget would be perfect when I attend meetings!

#6 SEND to Print easily! (Trying very hard to find an ‘S’ word!)

The Flyer uses Wifi to print.

Here’s a caricature artist drawing me on the Flyer! Cool!

me

I not only emailed the end product to myself, I also got it printed INSTANTLY!

myself

Does it look like me?? :)

I can imagine me & baby Julien drawing many many pictures on the Flyer instead of paper… Save the trees!

And now if you think I already look very happy in the picture, I promise you I would look even happier if I actually get my hands on the HTC Flyer! :p

I can imagine life will be much more efficient and less boring (in other words, more entertaining) with the Flyer! Looking forward to its launch!

Launch date: May 2011

Retail price*: $1,068 without plan

*The Flyer comes with 3G and Wifi.

Daily outfits for Mummy and Baby

Happened to visit the Baby Expo Fair on Saturday.

Expo fair

We didn’t really buy anything much as we did not come across any very good deals. But we did manage to find some very cute Carter’s bodysuits/rompers and bibs for Julien!

We used to buy tee-shirts for Julien but realized that no matter how much we tuck the tee-shirt into his pants (and not to mention, how very nerdy looking), the tee-shirt would gradually ‘roll’ upwards, exposing his belly.

So we had since bought rompers for him instead. Best if they came with button studs at the neckline (rather important for my son since he has quite a big head!).

And so here are the 15 pieces of rompers we got for him! I especially like those with animal prints.

bodysuits

And here are the cute bibs!

Bib1

I even bought one which is waterproof and can ‘catch’ the leftovers!

bib2

After I came back from shopping that day, I realized that most of the bibs’ designs were of Monkeys! Hmm… why am I so attracted to the monkey designs???

Now Mummy’s turn. Here are some of my recent daily outfits…

Outfit #1 - Girly

Desigual

Wearing the Desigual dress that my friends from the subzone bought for me. :) Wore this with mostly silver accessories- watch, 2 silver charm bracelets, big ring, mis-matched earrings… and all-white platform shoes. Skipped the necklace to avoid over-accessorizing.

You can wear this with leggings too.

Tip: In my opinion, flare or loose tops like this piece must be worn with tights, skinny jeans or at most slim, straight-cut jeans.

Loose bottoms ought to be paired with tighter, fitting tops.

This holds true unless there’s a new fashion trend being set…

Outfit #2 – Grunge Rock

torn

Felt like wearing something ‘grungey’ that day. Took my F21 black top and paired it with this pair of very torn, very tattered skinnies from BKK. Wore it with mostly black accessories- Black studded bracelet, black/silver ring and black & studded high heels.

Tip: Keep a few classic pieces in your wardrobe like this black cotton top I have. Can be paired with almost ANYTHING. From plain simple jeans to flowery maxi skirt. ANYTHING.

By the way, I am going for a week long trip in TWO weeks time… to Phuket and Bangkok! Excited to relax in Phuket and then go full-on in BKK to 'search’ out good buys for myself and Julien. Can’t wait really! :)

The Meaning of Easter

I just attended one of the most moving, powerful Easter productions ever…image

At the end of this drama, I was very touched and thought Father God’s love is really great beyond measure.

It’s something like this…

I love my son. Very very very x1000000 much. And I thank God that he is generally a very lovable and smiley little boy. :)

Happy

But you know, on many days, he is not that perfect at all! He messes up. And sometimes ON PURPOSE.

Dirty

But you know what?

No matter what he does to me, how badly he messes up, or whether he did it on purpose and many times, I will always be there to clean up his mess and I will still love him. Very very very x1000000 much.

So here is the equation.

My love for my son X 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000…..=

God’s love for us

AMAZING.

I hope this Easter is not just about some eggs or a long weekend for you. May you find true love this Easter! :)

HAPPY EASTER!!!

Tip for taking photos of babies

Have you tried taking THE PERFECT picture of a baby?

The picture perfect look is the ‘look into my camera’, huge smile, big eyes, stay still kind of pose.

smiling baby

If you have a baby, you would know that this is a very difficult, if not near impossible task to accomplish.

Well, you can’t force the baby to pose…

Cousins

Umm… you can try…. but it doesn’t really work, as you can see…

Even Anne Geddes doesn’t really try.

If you haven’t already noticed… most of her pictures are that of SLEEPING babies.

sleeping baby

And so I GIVE UP. I give up trying to get THE PERFECT picture.

I decided I’d just snap, snap and snap away.

grandma

Great grandmum trying very hard to take a picture with all her great grandchildren

After that, you choose which to keep, which to upload or print and which to delete.

And very often, I realized that the BEST photos are not the so-called perfect ones.

But the most candid & natural ones! :)

Friso 2 Infant Milk Formula for Julien Lim

friso

TWELVE tins of Friso arrived at our house.

I don’t even stock as many cup noodles as this.

I am CERTAIN that if war happened in SG, our precious Julien would definitely not starve.

How to Apply Make Up Quickly

Are you a person who is okay with not applying make up when you leave the house and you don’t care even if you are meeting your friends, going to work etc?

Well, here are some pictures to show you why you need to ‘repent’!

*GASPS!*

JA

KD

RZ

This is the power of make up!

No wonder they say there is no such person as an ugly woman, but a lazy one. It’s true!

And how about claims that make up damages your skin? Well, you can use mineral make up (affordable ones available online eg: Everyday Minerals), invest and diligently use good skincare (i.e. moisturizer, make up remover, cleanser, toner).

I don’t know about you but I am a firm believer of putting on make up and looking your best.

BUT, I am unfortunately also not the type of female who would sacrifice my precious sleep to wake up early in the morning to put on make up… for hours!

Kudos to ladies who do that!

So, let me share with you my 10-minute make up stint every morning before I go to work!

IMG_1401

1. Base from Everyday Minerals

After applying moisturizer (oil-free) and sunblock over my face, I will apply a layer of base powder.

2. Concealer from Everyday Minerals

I will then apply concealer under my eyes and on any unwanted pimples.

3. Loose Powder from Everyday Minerals

Next up, apply loose powder all over my face.

4. Eyebrow Color from The Body Shop

After trimming stray eyebrows if necessary, I will fill in the empty pockets and ends of my eyebrows with the eye brow color.

5. Eye Shadow Palette from Maybelline

Blend 1-3 colors on my eye lids. Blending is the key! For me, I find it easier to use my index finger to do the blending. This palette from Maybelline actually has a picture under it to show you how to color your eyes with the various shades.

6. Eyeliner from Majolica

Draw liquid eyeliner close to the eyelash line.

7. Mascara from Maybelline

After curling my eyelashes, I’ll brush the mascara on my eyelashes 2-3 times.

8. Lip balm from Nivea

This is the best lip balm I’ve ever used! As I normally put on makeup on the rest of my face, I would either use just the lipbalm or add a light lip gloss over it.

I promise you the above is done in 10-15 minutes!

If you are really rushing for time and/or going out to someplace really casual, and you just want to put on minimal make up without scaring others… I would in my opinion, recommend the following essentials:

1. Concealer,

2. (Optional) Loose powder if your complexion is not too good,

3. Eye brow color (incomplete, missing or obviously untidy eye brows are a BIG no no!),

4. Eye liner (swipe a layer of eye shadow color first for the purpose of keeping your eye liner in place) and

5. Lip balm

Hope this helps you to look better in a shorter time! ;)

Watami Restaurant at Central

Went to Watami Jap Restaurant at Central last week… Here are some pics!IMG_1424

IMG_1425

I love salmon sashimi!

IMG_1426

And Jared loves his mushrooms. This mushroom and scallop dish is absolutely delicious!

IMG_1428

IMG_1427

Tonpeiyaki

The food at Watami is generally tasty but some of the portions are quite small. Prices are similar to Waraku… $10+ per dish.

Went to my sis-in-law’s place the other day and she cooked tom yam noodles for us! I wish I could cook like her… Maybe I can…. If only I had the time. :)

IMG_1430

Fruit platter

She bothered to cut up the fruits and placed them nicely on the tiered plate!

IMG_1432

I am really inspired by my SIL. I promise myself that I will pick up cooking when Julien grows older!

Poses and 7-month old milestones

Ever seen pictures of those hunky, handsome male models sitting stylishly on the sofa?

Something like this…

male

Well, I uncovered this potential in my son a few days back.

Yes. The modeling potential. :) He’s so pose-y if there’s such a word!

Here’s the cool, I-can’t-be-bothered-with-you-cos-I’m-too-handsome look.

J1

J2

The oh-so-innocent boyish look.

J3

Don’t you think he’s such a natural? Anyone looking for a baby model? :p

Anyway, back to reality.

An update on Baby’s developments.

I am now teaching him to hold his own bottle.

J4

This is indeed a good thing for him to learn… Handsfree for us!

He has also mastered the art of not only flipping, but flipping back front up.

And Julien has beginning to show signs of learning to crawl. After he flips, he would bend both knees to gather strength, then push his legs straight causing his body to inch forward alittle. Absolutely adorable!

i can’t wait for the next milestone…

Now before I go, here’s another model picture for you! :)
