When Julien was 3 weeks old, the hubby and I were shocked to realize we’ve got to start planning for his baby shower and giving out the manyue (1st month) pastries.
We didn’t want to get the typical ang ku kueh/red eggs/cake packages and decided to go for something different… something we ourselves would like. And so we found GOBI.
We went down to its cafe situated at Joo Chiat and liked what we saw already!

Cashier area overlooking it’s open concept kitchen.
The lady boss Ai Ming gave us the chocolate cakes to sample.
NICE!!! The texture of the cake was very smooth. It’s not spongy, yet not all mousse. It’s just delicious (remember I have a sweet tooth!)… And gone in a couple of minutes!
And so, we ordered our manyue cakes from here. My hubby was so happy, he bought a box of macaroons to eat along the way as well!
As GOBI only provided small gift tags with a personalized message,
I also got Julien’s photo printed on stickers to stick on the cake boxes as well. Thanks to Aunty Val!
Finally the day came to give out the cakes. We were excited to give out the delicious and pretty stuffs! Indeed it’s more blessed to give than to receive. :)
I also ordered some more pastries for my office from Ed’s sister’s bakery – Pat’s bakery. Here are her pastries…
Apple strudel… Recommended!
And of course, the preeeetty and very yummy cakes from GOBI!
Our colleagues and friends loved it!
And we will definitely patronize the cafe again!
