Mykonos Island

Ok.. Here's your guest blogger again.. now official husband... We are awaiting our flight to depart from the beautiful honeymoon island of Santorini, Greece to Zurich, Switzerland. Some time to kill now.. so gonna share with you some island magic of Greece.

We were in Mykonos island for 3 days. Famed for quaint white houses nestled above its famous beaches like Paradise and Elia soaked in party atmosphere, its probably Greece's answer to the Ibiza island. We stayed at the beatiful boutique class Mykonos Grace hotel which faces the new port and the Agios Stefanos beach. It has a gorgeous bedroom complete with a Manhanttan styled toilet with Grohe raindance showerset.. Designer breakfast every morning at poolside complete with a complimentary mini bar.. Pure heaven.. A picture speaks a thousand words, here you go..

Our hotel bathroom...

Pool view during breakfast every morning...

We really liked the view.. not forgetting its almost summer now in Greece, flowers are blooming everywhere.. We found our wedding flower, the Queen Anne's Lace which our florist described as classy and expensive growing EVERYWHERE on the island.. Sob sob.. we spent almost $550 on them for our Holy Matrimony.. but on Mykonos island.. it's almost like our equivalent of morning glory!

That's the Queen Anne's lace flower!
We also saw beautiful bougainvillea growing on the island.. somehow they just looked much prettier on the island.. Flowers blooming on the cliffside, sidewalk etc.. Yellow, pink, purple, white.. You just marvelled at God's creation, blooming away in the harsh heat of Greece..

Can u see the bougainvillea??!
Not forgetting the beaches of course.. We went to a highly recommended beach called Psarou beach.

In Greece, to get a sunbed, I need to pay almost 6 euros a person. Costly man! The waters are a beautiful shade of blue. Went swimming.. but the waters were really frigid. Stayed in there for only 15 mins before turning blue in the face.. Better off suntanning! Beware the beaches though.. some of them are clothing-optional.. Others like Paradise & Super Paradise are gay friendly... But no.. both me and Jerb stayed decently clothed..we not going to hang so loose :-P.. only problem was that we were in FULL view of an old Caucasian couple who were not. Saggy skin and all.. shall not go into details... let's just say we cut short our suntanning!

Beyond the beaches, Mykonos town was very nice too.. With cute windmills and Little Venice.. only drawbacks were shopping & food were expensive.. Average meal will set us back by abt EUR 35.

Us eating at a popular Greek tavern

We didnt buy anything there.. if you know my wife's favorite hobby well.. you would know that means SHOPPING IS REALLY EXPENSIVE! Transport was obviously another hindrance.. there are only 13 taxis on the whole island.. to get to town, its either by the hourly bus or a taxi..EUR 6 to get to town from our hotel for a 7 mins ride..

Mykonos Town

Windmills

Little Venice

All in all.. we would still recommend Mykonos island.. The splendid views more than compensate the expensive food and transport. But we recommend you spend just 2-3 nights and make sure you come in May unless you got deep pockets! May is the month just before peak season. We got our hotel room inclusive of breakfast for EUR 160, on June 1, the rates will revise upwards to EUR 250, and on Jul 1 (where summer holidays in europe commence), our hotel room will cost a staggering EUR 340! Thats a neat $700 a night! Alright got to go to airport soon.. Yassou! (Goodbye in Greek) Will post something on the beautiful honeymoon island of Santorini soon! It will be funny I promise...!

Greek Food....

Yahsu! It's my last day in Mykonos... Leaving the best hotel in our entire stay in Europe... Sob sob... so before we depart, we are going to take a llloooonnnggg bath and eat the most out of our breakfast buffet! HAHA... how Singaporean right?

Breakfast by the poolside, facing the Agean Sea... magazine picture perfect!

Anyway, although the food here is getting a little boring... due to the lack of variety... and I must say that their food is rather dry... I miss the saucey food and... of course my chilli from S'pore! They do have some foods that are really good and that Jared & I are looking forward to try to recreate when we are back home! Now, let me share some with u...

Disclaimer: These receipes are NOT from the Greek kitchen! But it's what I suppose it should be. Try at your own risk! =p

Greetings from Greece...

Hey everybody! Yahsu(Hello)! Greetings from GREECE!!!

Here I am in my hotel room in Mykonos Island typing away cos yesterday I got sunburnt badly whilst touring some historical sites (Acropolis, Ruins of temple of Zeus etc) in Athens city... so sad. The Beaches here are beautiful! It's almost UNREAL. I thot if there is such a beautiful place on Earth... then can u imagine HEAVEN? Wow!

Anyway, so far... we took almost a day (16 hours) to fly from SG to Greece. We stayed 2 days there... Like what my hubby said... u just throw a stone and u will reach another historical site here... HAHA. Well that's a little exaggerated. But I must say that these sites are in the midst of the city. And the city though situated in Europe, is not developed at all. In fact, the tour guide told us it is an agricultural country.

I think i can't upload the pics here I took in Athens. So do look it up on my facebook.

Ciao... going off to shop at Mykonos Town. I hope I can find something! =)

It's next week!

RSVP is a headache... Should we invite more people? This person coming? Are they bringing their spouses, kids etc?? How to group the various people in a table? ARGHHHH!

I can't wait though to do my hair, do my manicure and pedicure! Luxury services all in a week! Can't wait for that.... And I can't wait to go Europe for my honeymoon... Greece.... Here we come!
