January 2008!

This month has been a fast-moving one for me... Especially in terms of W.O.R.K. Life has really been busy with all the compliance issues. But whenever I feel stretched and stressed... I just have to look at my boss...

One minute I see him making decisions about Pastl Admin, then sign some forms and answer some questions regarding HR, then nodding at some Office Admin requests, and replying the possibly hundreds of internal and external emails daily, then going for Board/Sub-comms/External Meetings, then attending Pastl meetings, then going to teach BS/Bible Sch, after that rushing to counsel membrs, then at night go down and preach and lay hands during Ldrs' Meeting, then another night spending dinner time with his family, then weekends taking some segments of the church meeting, then meeting Ps.... (I might have missed many many more stuffs) Then I realise my work is definitely relatively MUCH lesser and I shut my mind's mouth up! HAHAHAHA!

Anyway, I am praying for my work... for:

1. Greater capacity

2. Wisdom

3. Fruitfulness & effectiveness

4. A good memory!

5. Favor

6. Greater sensitivity to the Holy Spirit

& like what Ps Kong preached 2 Sundays ago, I need to grow in my confidence!!! CONFIDENCE... DO NOT CAST AWAY YOUR CONFIDENCE... AS A MAN THINKS HE IS, SO IS HE... I CAN DO ALL THINGS THRO CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS ME... LIVE BY FAITH!

Really had suffered self esteem problems since my teenage years. Even though I am now a Christian walking with the Lord, but won't you agree with me that confidence is not an automatic feeling? It takes deliberateness and diligence to train my thoughts, to gather courage to step out, to constantly encourage myself. The stony ground whereby the seed doesn't take root will not and cannot withstand the storms (aka failures and hardships) of life! So I really appreciate the series of messages that Pastor Kong had prepared that week regarding confidence. It's really so important for me. :) Thanks Ps for your word in season!

Anyway, here's some happenings in Jan '08!

Jasmine's birthday celebration! HAPPY BIRTHDAY & WELCOME TO THE TWENTY CLUB! Buahahaha!

Sandra's Jayvon was born on 23 Jan 2008, at 4:23PM in Room 8123 (Note the no. of '23's that appeared! And the Room No. is his birthdate! Wah, too bad I don't buy number...)

We were all encouraging Wendy to GO FOR IT! Heehee...

CGLs Appreciation Dinner

I've learnt tonight from Dr ARB... that I need to know:

WHO AM I - A servant. WHAT I DO - Lead.
When I know I am a servant, there's nothing I will not do cos there's nothing lower than servanthood.

So, signing off... and counting down 110 days (3 mths 19 days) to our BIG day. :)

My new home!

Last night, I was very domesticated. I went to my new home to clean it. Clean = Sweep, vacuum & mop. Wow.

Went to my new home again cos today the movers are moving a piece of my furniture... I am really beginning to be excited about my new home. Cos it is beginning to look like one! I love the black tiles, I love the glass door, I love the cute wallpaper, I love the bar counter (Thks to Lillian & Mr Cheng for 2 lovely bar stools!), I love the atas-looking toilets, I love the mosaic tiles in my kitchen... I love my new home! Can't wait to fill it up with the furniture & accessories. Hmm... Ya, Jared likes the furniture part (wait till u hear him talk about the various brands of washing machines, TVs, vacuum cleaners, dryers, beds, fridges, etc... More well-versed than my mum I say!) and I... love the accessories part. Hee :)

Yesterday I was having dinner with dear and discussing about the wedding details alittle. It's really coming! The 1 year 3 months of wait has been reduced to a short 4 months!!! And alot of $$$ to say goodbye farewell to.... My shopping places, bags & stuffs I buy has been changed drastically... I shop near our new home, carry red plastic bags instead of black paperbags & buy stuffs I have never bought before in my life........ Just like today... I bought a leather cleaner, a duro lock, a door no-bump... Unbelievable!

Anyway, I think it's going to be quite exciting and I think hectic 4 months of wedding preps!

So before signing off, let me intro you to the cheapest (i think) sugarcane drink you can ever buy in Singapore!!!
Jared took his $5 bill out when he saw the auntie approaching our table with the 2 medium sized glasses of sugarcane. Then the auntie said, "Yi kuai liu mao." We looked at each other with disbelief and Jared put back his $5 bill and took out the $2 instead!
80 cents sugarcane... U tell me where to find??!
Then we ate wanton & dumpling kway teow from this stall...
The digital queue sign got us to think this stall must be popular!!! But I personally think, it's so so only...
These stalls are found @ Queenstown hawker centre (opp Queensway Shopping Centre).
You can go there for cheap shopping @ Ikea and Queensway Shopping Centre then head for cheap food.
Ok, ciao now. Believing & praying for a great FIRST CG of 2008 this Friday & Saturday!!!

A short visit to KL...

What were you doing on New Year's Day 1/1/08?? Sleeping? Going out with friends?

My siblings and I awoke early @ 5:30am on the 1st day of the New Year to catch our bus to KL... Not for leisure, but to visit Di Gor (2nd Aunt) who has been hospitalised. It was a short 2 day 1 night trip as we had to rush back for Jas's 1st day @ school on 3/1.

Upon arrival in the afternoon, we headed for The General Hospital @ KL. Jennie told us not to get a shock as the hospital's standard cannot be compared to S'pore's at all. BTW, she told us the cost went something like this:

Deposit for registration of stay @ hospital - RM1
Accomodation & food - RM10-20 per day
X-ray - RM2
The patient next to my aunt who stayed for 5 days had a bill of only RM88!!!

The corridor looked like some old school...

The ward... It's probably like B class.

I dun mean to take a pic of Jas. But the old pedestal beside her!

Signs to indicate the patients' special requirements!

Notice board of the ward & patients' details.

We had a good time talking to Di Gor. We could tell she was touched and v happy we were there. She sure had a hearty appetite even though she said she was full!

After the visit, my cousins extended their usual hospitality to us -- by bringing us for a glutton trail!!!

First, we had an early dinner at a steamboat buffet restaurant.

Guess what the people are crowding around? An empty tray! Cos every 15min, the kitchen would bring out a tray of BBQ chicken wings which are reputedly delicious and succulent. People are crowding around the empty tray once the 15 minutes are about up. And once the tray comes... people snatch like crazy! I thought only S'poreans are kiasu!!!

After a filling dinner, we went to walk about the newly opened Niu Che Shui (which is NOT Chinatown. Chinatown is KL's Petaling Street).

The streets are lined with fake cherry blossom trees and with pink and blue lights!

And, new year means Chinese New Year is coming soon!

As we were window shopping, Jas was particularly attracted to this shop.....

Sweets galore!

Open air 2-storey coffee shop.

Us & cousins! :))

You can't believe it. After walking here, we proceeded to have SUPPER after our BUFFET DINNER!!!

We can never miss out eating prata in M'sia!!! Even S'pore's best is nothing compared to any coffeeshop's in M'sia!

We ordered 2 Poms (Plain balls, more savory than sweet, with air inside, comes with curries)

And another thing we ordered, is our favorite, very long/tall.... Roti Tissue!!! (A pyramid looking, flat piece of prata that is crispy, with sugar & honey.... YUMS!)

Look at it!!! It costs RM5 and requires 3 plates to lay it upon!

After supper the day ended...
The next day was a short day. We only visited Di Gor again and was v happy to hear that she will be discharged the next day...after 2 weeks!!! Thank God! We prayed for her in Chinese and hugged her. Tears came into her eyes... which was rare cos she was a strict woman. We guessed it was bcos our family in M'sia has been thro difficult times, and they do not express love. Seeing her smile and tear also brought tears to Val's and my eyes. We promised her we will be back 1 month later for Chi New Year... and she looked v v glad. Really pray for God's protection over her life and health...

So we are coming back to S'pore to spend the rest of a even stronger, better 2008!

Signing off.... the toenailess sistas who love pedicure! =)
